I have been refinishing military rifles for over 20 years but I have NEVER had as much trouble as I had with my Hakim. All the parts were THERE to begin with but since this is my first Hakim I didn't know what parts would vanish without a trace. First it was the front barrel band bushing (fell out of stock un-noticed) it took me 4 hours to fine it and a complete cleaning of my basement floor!. At my joy upon finding it I notice the (cuss, cuss, cuss) center guard screw bushing is gone. At 3AM in the morning, I'm doing another search of my basement floor....NO LUCK, so I make one with the help of my trusty hacksaw and a piece of metal tubing. Now at 4:15 AM I'm sitting here looking at my completely refinished rifle, the blood, sweat and tears wipe off all to easy. It looks great yet does not look like its been refinished (my idea of a GOOD job) it's just another Hakim that must have spent most of its life on the rack. My only question is what type of wood did Egypt use on the Hakim? I can see light wood chisel marks all over the stock which leads me to believe either native labor was used or they were taken off the stock making machine without final finishing.
