I can't complain about my local gun store, there are a few in town, but just one with a range. And although it's only 25 yards, it's fine for what I need.
The guys are always friendly, and it costs 10 bucks to shoot, "no time limit", at least if there is no one ever told me about it". Been going in there about 4 years now, they don't even ask me to sign in anymore, let alone show any ID.
Prices are $31.00 a box for ammo, but that is a recent thing. They were $25 until a few months ago.
and they actually have guns in stock, and today I counted 9, 1911's, 2 were R1's at $700 for the nickel and $650 for the blue, along with a couple of kimbers and colts, the most overpriced was the Rock Island at $525.00 for the officers model. XDS was in stock, and a gent was buying one for $500 and change, "a decent price".
4 of us in the store aside from all the shooters inside the shooting area. And everyone had an XDS, on them. I found that interesting also, I went to function test an M&P9c, but my carry is an XDS. All was well, 2 boxes and she was almost broken in, at least I felt comfortable with her. I couldn't find anything to complain about, no one tried to sell me anything and they even traded me some 40 cal I had for my choice of 45 or 9mm. That's why I go there.
They won't do transfers, so I use someone else, they figure if you aren't buying it from them, they aren't going to help you get it from someone else, unless you pay $150 bucks for one. But for a local range with a decent selection of guns mags and holsters, it works for me.
