My local gun store

Good to hear about roanoke firearms and bryansteens.

I live up here in NY on long island, but we have an apartment on some land in Floyd and im always looking for good places to go when im down. I also went to the gunshow that were there on the 3rd, and let me tell you there is NOTHING like that here in new york. If i was a VA resident i would have been walking out with the kahr cw9 i fondled, damn did i like that thing!

I can relate to this story; I'll wager that we all can. My favorite shop is run by a former LEO (state police) who has been in the business for more than 20 years now. Like the folks who run virtually all gun shops in American, he feels as though he has been under seige of late, what with the rush to get guns while the gettin' is good. But he also feels that he is under seige daily because of the constant attacks on guns and law-abiding guns owners in the courts and in the Congress. As a result, he's been thinking about getting out. His comment the other day: "Make me an offer on my remaining inventory and I'm on the beach for good."

That's understandable, of course, but it's also a shame. I've had some bad experiences in the box stores and don't want to spend the rest of my gun-buying days in places where no one knows my name ... or where no one really cares to know it, either.

That might be in all of our futures, however, sad to say.

There's a good place like the OP's in my small East Texas town.

The store has been closed lately because the owner is having some serious health issues - I hope he gets better soon.

i want to cry reading this. we dont have a store that sells guns in our county anymore (very rural area) but all i can do is give an example of what we had.

i walked in glanced back at the ammo behind the counter and asked for a box of .35rem cor-lokts the owner put them on the counter and and asked if i had a winchester or marlin lever. i told him neither i have a rem pump. he then proceeded to tell me that those arent safe to shoot that sometimes you pull the trigger and they shoot till they are empty. i asked well wouldnt you have to work the pump? he says youd think so.
i didnt buy that box of shells and never bought another thing there.

There is a store in my area that might be like that, but they are never open any hours when I can get to them.

Mike
