Mentor

If I can make it I may be looking for someone who could mentor me through a build of an AR-15. I'd like to have one before MD outlaws them. I'd like to kit one together so as to save some money and get an education in the process.

Hope to see you all there,

Boxcab

Boxcab:

If you can't get in touch with JeepDriver, you can get the full instructions (with photos) on assembling AR lowers and uppers at www.AR15.com.

If you haven't seen that site, it's like a High Road for AR buffs. :)

To get to the assembly instructions:

Go to the AR-15 website,
look for the "AR-15" forum,
then look for the "Build it Yourself" sub-forum,
then see the sticky'd thread on "Build your upper, lower, free-float ". . etc.

That is what my friend is doing for his build; If I was building one, I would use those same instructions on my own. They give you a list of tools and the photos walk you through it step-by-step. If you have done any WECSOG work before, it should be no problem (this coming from the guy who souped up a 10-22 at home).

I'll be there for sure. :)

Looking forward to meeting you all. I'll definitely have an M14 in tow, M4 carbine, and possibly a PTR-91. I plan to make a day of it. :D

Cross-posted from the MD site:

The mini-Appleseed clinic will be run by Pacer for the shoot. The fee for this is an additional $15 which covers the expenses for that extra part of the get together. The clinic is NOT mandatory so if you just want to come shoot and visit that's fine.

I'm going to do the clinic because I feel like I've maxed out on my progress and need some actual instruction. This may be the first time a mini-Appleseed clinic has been done in MD.

Pacer has an excellent run down of the clinic in the thread over at TRP:

There is a possibility that me, only1asterisk, and Medgrl could come. We're going to look into the details and everything and see if we can come, that is if you guys don't mind. It's a 5-hour drive for us, according to mapquest, so the whole not-stopping at all law if you have handguns might be a problem.

i'll be setting this date aside. i go to elk's neck now and then. this will be a new range for me. i haven't shot out to 300 since i was in the army. that should be fun.

Everyone is welcome regardless of state of residence. This is all about getting people together, bringing new shooters into the fold and just generally having a great time.

Wow a shoot at a range only a few miles from my house! I'll be there! With some new friends!

Dude....I thought you had fallen off the face of the earth. Good to see you still around and looking forward to seeing you on the 13th.

Ditto. Bring everybody you can think of. I'll have sheets there to sign up for MSI email notices, and anybody that signs up will have a chance to win a range/gear bag.

Appleseed

OK.

Appleseed is the brain child of Fred'sM14 Stocks. It's a program to wake America to their Citizenship responsibilities, and to allow them to regain thier expertise in shooting a rifle. Shooting to the Rifleman standard. All shots from any position, within 1 MOA out to 400 yards.

For the "big scoop" on Appleseed, go to RWVA.org and tap the Appleseed link.

For the Mini Appleseed at this gathering, as at all the Appleseed clnics, we'll shoot at 25 meters (82 feet, 26+yards) We'll shoot at reduced targets, representing 400 (Prone unsupported) 300 (prone rapid from standing) 200 (sitting or standing) and 100 yards (standing). You'll need a 'zero'd" stick, and not more than 200 rounds of ammo. 22LR is ok, as are SKS, AR-15, AK-47, bolt guns, etc.

Please read this thread http://www.therallypoint.org/forum/index.php?topic=885.msg5329#msg5329 for more info on this particular shoot.

I've been waiting for one on my side of the bridge. I'll be there.

If this shoot goes well, I'd venture to guess that this could become a regular stop for The Rally Point shoots. Decent range, nice people, not too far from the rest of the world.

I picked up two more folks today.

I'll be there with my brand new, never shot AR. Looking to make some serious holes in paper!

Will anyone be bringing a Hi Power 9mm? I wish to purchase one, but would like to experience a bit of trigger-time prior to dropping the cash on my own. If any are present, I would greatly appreciate being able to fire off a few rounds, I will of course supply the ammo.

I'll bring my silly 1887 Webley Mark I, with a host of .45 AR if anyone wants to try it out. Not an accurate gun, that. =)

Less than one week to go folks. Hopefully this weather will hold out for a few more days.

Looks like around 30 people so far. A very good turn out, indeed.

Help me guys, im in need of a ride to the shoot, i will pay entrance, or spot gas money. I will drive to your house and arrive before you leave, unless of course, my house is somehow in the way, but you'd have to be above westminster...

But please, i need a ride. I will meet you before you leave for the shoot. PM me if its possible.

Where are you lacated?

Slimjim,

Where are you located/coming from? It might help folks help you.
