Hi folks

Is there a reliable 3rd party manufacturer of Ruger Mini-14 10 round mags? I've read on retail sites, and other forums that if you want it to work you need to pay the premium to get the Mags straight from Ruger at $35 each!!!

Anybody got something that's as reliable in a 10 round flavor (b/c I live in NJ) at less than a small fortune?

Thanks

You read correctly.

You can buy a bunch of the $15 3rd party mags but the cull rate is going to be high. It really is cheaper in the long run to buy the OEM mags.

Or move out of NJ.

I know their reputation, but I decided on getting 3 10 round stainless ProMag's and haven't had a problem with them yet.

Many years ago I bought some USA mags,( I don't know if they are still in business)
they were horrible, they made better targets than mags.
from that point on I've stuck with OEM's

I've some of these too, and they are among the very few Pro Mags that weren't a total waste of time and money.

I bought a few chepies on ebay that I could not make feed. I spent and afternoon with some pliers playing with them. no-go shanghi.

I stuck with it and found John Mason magazines. www.johnmasen.com They treated me kindly, shipped quickly and they work in my late model mini 14.

At first they were a little tight but broke in real well.

@ Z michigan - are they actually factory? have you seen them or is the website just saying that to make sales?

Yes, they are truly Ruger factory mags. There was an announcement in the gun news sites a month or two ago that Ruger had started making and selling 10rd Mini-14 mags.

As for CDNN, I've been buying from them for 6+ years with no problems. They are 100% honest and reliable for verifiable facts - like brand, if it's factory, if it's new, etc. I am saying this carefully because their "ad puffery" statements like "best quality" when no brand is given, is just "puffing" and you should expect Chinese products of marginal quality. But they are 100% good to go for brand name items they sell. BTW they have specials every weekend that usually have reduced shipping rates and minor free stuff like safety glasses or earplugs.

And here I thought 'Best Quality' was a chicom brand name...

I've also had good experiences buying from CDNN.
