Who among you reload your 243 Winchester with 100 grain Nosler Partition or 95 grain NBT. I am going to use it this year for my doe mule deer hunt.Curious about your opinions about either one of these bullets on mule deer.

I have used the nosler partition and the barnes tsx for hogs wich are a pretty tough animal. the ballistic tips are not a very good bullet when penetration is required. the 243 some say is a little light for heavy animals but with the right shot placement will work. the larger calibers just offer more insurance. if i were hunting elk with a 243 i would feel just fine with the tsx and the nosler partition being a close second.

Either of those bullets are fine if-

Neck shot ot white spot. No off angle shots, and no shots you're not 100% confident in.

The big key will be proper bullet selection in an accurate load. I this instance I'd rank bullet selection as priority one, accuracy as number 2, with velocity a distant 3rd in importance. I also reccomend keeping the shots in the short to medium ranges, as placement will be fairly critical.

The 243 Win is fine for mulies in capable hands. My mother, grandmother, father and a few of my aunts have taken a few deer with a 243, but they had the patience to wait for the right shot.

If you can still get hold of some of the 100gr Solid Bases they shot better than the Partitions from two of my rifles. They will also work fine for mulies with the proper shots taken.
