I saw some threads and decided I needed to jump in here on 243 reloads;
I read several reloads using diff. powders and bullets, and saw several loads mentioned, but did not see even one load that me and my friend 243 shooter use that is the absolute ultimate for game up to 150 lbs;

I have been shooting 243 reloads out of my x-bolt for two yrs, and my buddy has just put them thru his new marlin 243 with outstanding results also ;

we used win, hornady, and fed. brass with win. standard large rifle primer;
Nosler 95 gr. ballistic tip (also used Nosler partition on ELK),
with 42.0 grains of H414;

Tried this bullet with varget, and was too fast for the heavier bullet;

This load is printed at 3138 at muzzle; I got 3107 from 22" barrel on my Browning;

U guys check this; I have not found a better load yet;

I used the 95 BT as well this year, at around 3030 fps and I was very impressed with it's performance at the range and on deer. Both of the deer I shot went down quickly with good internal damage and exit wounds. If you read about the 95 BT some, the internet lore says that it was kind of a pet project of one of the nosler ballisticians looking for the perfect 6mm medium game bullet.

Well, we put quite a few deer on the ground this last season using Speer 100 gr. BT's and H4831. And some where in the middle of the season, I ran out of H and used IMR-4831 with no real difference in accuracy.

Velocity was just under 3000 fps out of multiple 22" barrel's, seems like everyone I know has bought Ruger Americans chambered in .243 win, and a couple of .270 win's too. I didn't get an opportunity to run the IMR-4831 over the chrony due to a time constraint. But we did put them on paper to check zero, and they were shooting about 2" lower at 200 yds. so I can only assume IMR was shooting a bit lower fps..

This was a very unusual season, a lot of new hunters, new rifles, so ammo usage was extremely high. I loaded for my daughter in law, who had never hunted before, and she went through 100 rounds just getting used to the gun, and sighting in. But she also went out and dropped a decent couse deer at about 200 yds. off hand on her first try. Everyone else managed to get good kills also, I just love the .243 win..
