i want to start reloading rifle shells in .303 SAVAGE i own a mod 99 lever action ,i went to order from cabelas the Lee Anneversary press kit.. but then discovered that i need to know ,,, what is the proper case length?i guess so they can get me a length gauge,and also a shell holder, again im guessing that its a 30 calibre? and bullet diameter i think its .308 any one with this info please let me know as my order is in the envelope and is stamped all ready to send /1 what is the case length ,2 what is the calibre,3 what is the diameter of the bullet it will shoot ? thanks in advance of a reply ,as stated im very new here and very green to the reloading process. i have located a guy with over 20 years experience in reloading high power rifles ,and shoots 100 ,200,and out to 1000 yards he really seems to know how to reload but is unfamiler with the shell i want to reload .he has a students hand book from the NRA that would be helpfull to me .in the process of reloading but i need the info so my LEE order can be sent ..wont see my buddy for a few weeks yet and my stuff will be here by then to get started .. tim582001

Do the guys at Cabellas even have a Lee loading book (Modern Reloading by Richard Lee)?? If I were new to the sport, I would not buy reloading supplys from guys that don't reload. Sounds like they do not know what you need. The max length of the 303 Savage is 2.015 if it is important to you(and it uses standard .308 bullets). I would guess they want to sell you a case length gauge from Lee...none are avalible for this caliber. Tell them to look it up in the Lee book. As long as the brass dosen't grow too long, you don't need to trim. Your buddy probibly has a trimmer and if you trim all your brass .020 short you will probibly not need to trim it again. Get a $10 set of calipers to measure it with. And as for brass, I hope you have some. I have seen used 303 brass go for over $50 for 20 rounds on eBay this last summer.

First thing: Get AT LEAST 3 different reloading manuals, read them cover to cover, then ask specific questions that you have.

My faverite all time manual.
If you can find one (look on eBay), that is what I would learn to load with. The information is timeless.PS: The Lee manual I mentioned has 303 Savage data too.
