Ok I recently made a trade for a like new Lee Loadmaster with extra shell carriers and a few extra tools heads. however since that deal was made and that loader is infact on the way. I choose to order a Dillon xl650 since thats the setup I use at my inlaws. And the Dillon Arrived today and is setup case feeder and all for .45acp . I planned on getting extra setups for the dillon for .40 S&W and for .223 however i need to load .308 as well. On the .308 it will be for my H&K91 and Rem700 Police Sniper Rifle. I planned buying a single stage for the .308. However should I make use out of the loadmaster? Here is questions and options:

1. I could resell the loadmaster once it gets in and just get rid of it.
2. Whats the reliability and accuracy if I used it turret style for the .308 rounds compared to loading on a single stage if i was loading 1 round at a time? It looks to be pretty beefy of a machine. If I did this I could take off the case feed bullet feed ect. and try to runs like a regular turret press.
3. I Could set it up for a dedicated progressive caliber like for .223 or .40 and get a single stage for the .308

I am pretty particular about the .308 rounds for the rem 700 P coming out as perfect as possible for accuracy purposes.

I have loaded on lees before but no the loadmaster the single stage challenger and lee1000 which felt pretty cheap but I have to admit I never had a issue with it.

Lets hear opinions...

You've got Dillon everything else; just sell the Loadmaster and all the equipment and get yourself a decent single-stage press to run your "perfect" .308 rounds on. The Lee Classic Cast turret is a great press, as good as a Rockchucker.

Use the extra money for more toolheads and such for the Dillon gear. No point in trying to rig that Loadmaster for something it is not really going to give the best results doing. You will see better results with your precision .308 on a single-stage one at a time than on that Loadmaster trying to run it one at a time. Better feel.

Evan's got it right, I think--although if you are limiting yourself to a press for the .308 rounds--or for any other rifle cartridge you're loading for accuracy--Maybe you should consider the Classic Cast Single Stage.

Given the Classic Cast Turret can work as a single stage, it seems to me to be preferred. (But, I don't load rifle for max accuracy--yet).

that or if you have the room run two presses. A lot of guys have several presses. you may want to set up the loadmaster for another round. I do agree on a single stage classic cast though they are great to have.

Yep my biggest decision is not whether to get a single stage I guess because I will get one anyway. And i do have room for several presses I have a empty bench thats over 10ft long but having a 3rd press may be handy just to keep setup for lets say .40 S&W it does have everything tooling wise and some extras. buts then again it does not take long to change calibers over on the dillon. decisions decisions :)

Keep it. sounds best to do anyway. for sure when you have that press set up with the others. You will be happy you kept it. if you can find it scroll down to the page where people post their benches. you will see people with 3-4 presses. its just so neat to have them. kinda like having a 22lr. you can never have just one. heck i have 3 in just rifles

well monday I am indeed ordering the Lee Classic Cast and will be ordering a L-N-L bushing conversion for quick change as well as extra bushing already have the order set to go with some extras I am sure I will need. I guess it would not hurt to keep it never know if something breaks on the dillon and I have to wait a few days for a replacement I may wish I kept the loadmaster for a backup press

You'll have no trouble selling/trading the Load Master for a great single stage press. The issue is not the Lee press. The issue is going to be the Lee powder measure and primer feed.
