Well I may break down anf finally order a Dillon XL650 with casefeeder and the as it should be kit from Brianenos.com. Any reviews on this set up? Purchasing kit as .45acp but will set up for .223 and possibly .308 (matchgrade). Currently running loadmaster and lee single stage. Any set up problems or learning curves with this machine? Please help....:D

My old man JUST got his press from the same place - he ordered a 550 about 10 days (?) ago and was just saying how excited he was yesterday to receive it and start setting it up. Can't say anything about it yet, thus, but he's a BIG time shopper so I guarantee you Brianenios.com has/had the best deal on it lol

Good luck with it, from my experience (turret guy) everyone I know says if you're going to go progressive *and* have the money, go Dillon.

If you encounter any troubles with the setup, call Dillon and they will help you. The manual explains a fair amount, plus there is a decent troubleshooting section.

Brian is a great guy and buying from him has an additional bonus...he's a reloader/shooter and knows as much about reloading as Dillon including, a lot of helpful tips in case you need 'em.

I have one piece of advice. When you assemble the Bullet chute and bin holder, assemble it between the press and the strong mount. If you dont, the weight of bullets may cause it to flex and you will catch it with the platform.

Other than that, I have loaded thousands and (knock on wood) not one problem on either of them. I have two, one set up for 45ACP, and one set up for 9mm.

I like to load up 1k at a time of each. That will usually last about 2 weeks if my wife shoots and about a month if it's me alone. When you are loading your first couple of hundred, and that machine is dialed in and you have the case feeder on, You will suddenly discover that you have a useless smile on your face.

Cheers and I am totally happy for you.

There will be a learning curve with any press with that many bells and whistles and so many things going on at once.
Just take the time to learn the ropes without hanging yourself.
Use it as a single stage for a while to get the hang of it,and then yo'll be cranking out the ammo faster than you ever thought possible...almost.

Did It....850.00:eek:

Xl650
As it should be kit( strongmount, aluminum roller handle, and bullettand loaded round tray)

Four primer pickup tubes

All on its way thanx to Brianenos.com. Itll be a few (4-6) weeks before I can play as I am on an intermove awaiting new home to be completed...

Decide right away if you want to load standing up or siting down so you can mount the press accordingly. I load standing up, but that's just more comfortable for me, especially doing rifle rounds.

When I load I always prep some brass as far as, station 1 and station 2 and set them aside. A couple of sized and deprimed cases and a couple of sized and primed cases are set next to the press. The reason for this, is sometimes I'll run into a case that won't deprime properly or a case that didn't prime properly, when that happens I just swap out the offending case and carry on without an empty space on the shell plate.

Get more primers tubes, I have about 15 of each, after loading the tubes I slide the sleeve from the primer package over the tube and tape it on for good measure.

Get a powder check, they are not fool proof but it's a extra I like.

If your going to do a lot of rifle rounds the power trimmer is perfect for the 650.
