Reloading using budget friendly equipment versus higher end equipment.

When I started, cheap was all I had or could afford. It certainly kept me shooting in those years where rent payments came hard. You can certainly load on inexpensive equipment. Might you want to upgrade at some point, maybe. Depends on what you want to do. Do I still load on the Lee Hand Press, never. On my upgraded Buchanan Precision Hand press yes. Overall, I have a mix of equipment.
You bet! And even if it’s not a case of all you that you can afford more cost effective alternatives are certainly appreciated.

I started reloading and casting a bit later in life, with an established career that I was well into that allowed me to afford a bit higher end stuff but I still went with Lee. What if I didn’t care to reload, burnt myself casting (which, I have done a number of times over the years), or just decided I’d rather go fishing than do anything firearm related, it was nice to know I wouldn’t be out a small fortune if I gave it up. Fast forward a decade and to my surprise my cheap stuff just keeps chugging along doing what I ask it to do.

I bought the Lee 50th Anniversary kit 15 years ago when I started shooting for $88.00 for the exact same reason. It still has a place on my bench because it is useful.

Another thing people don’t notice about that press is that it is designed to be on the left hand side of the bench. This means that for most people who are right handed components are handled with the right hand and the left hand pulls the handle.
