Which would you pick of the 2, Remington 700 or Savage 110, both in .308 accuracy out to 200+ yds.?

Dicks has the Camo Rem. 700 for $599 and my local gun shop has the Savage 110 for $550.

Overall quality of the 2?

Unless you need or want the camo stock, I would look for the regular 700 SPS, those can usually be found for $520-550 around here. As for Savage was this one of the package guns (the 110 series), or was it the 111 (blued sporter)?

I've owned 2 Savages and 3 Remingtons. Accuracy and beauty = 700.

The Savage 10FP in .223 that I have will shoot 1/4" groups all day long. But about 30% of the time the next round won't feed. And this is a police rifle? I'd be sure and bet my life on it. I hate to part with this rifle because of the accuracy but it is aggravating to shoot.

Savage 12VSS in .22-250 was my second Savage. No matter what I did the group would move up and right as it was shot. For an expensive stainless rifle it didn't offer much. I sold it and bought a 700 VS in .22-250 that was more accurate.

I won't buy another Savage, that should tell you how I feel about them compared to Remington.

Remington 700, I also have had problems with Savages. But Savage does have strong support on this board. Tikka also.

I had a Savage 10 FP in .308 that was a half MOA rifle with good rounds. Im not that great of a shooter and dropped below that on a couple occasions. Mostly I would get about .75 MOA.

I also had a Remington 700 in 7mm Mag at one time. It was also a great rifle but because A) it was a hunting rifle B) I never used match grade ammo and C) I wasnt as good of a shooter than, it wasnt as accurate as the savage. It still put down some respectable groups and Im sure with good ammo probably would have gone sub MOA.

Basically either will probably be a good rifle and be plenty accurate for hunting. As far as pure bench type accuracy I would give the nod to the Savage. I have seen the plain jane models shoot really well on several occasions.

Have you looked at CZ's line of rifles? I have a Mannlicher stock 550 in .308 and it's a great shooting rifle. It sports iron sights as well as mounting points for a scope. The accuracy is excellent and the single set trigger is great for target shooting. I own 4 CZ rifles and all have been real performers.

There are two big differences between the Savage and Remington.
Savage has a superb trigger.
Any aftermarket mods can be done at home on a Savage unless you have special equipment for the Remington.

I have a Savage, but I would never not recommend a Remington, I even own a 600. Ford/Chevy/Dodge? Red Sox/Yankees?, Carls Jr./Jack in the Box?

Pick them up, feel them, and go home with the one you are most comfortable with. And with either rifles you can change anything you want.

I have a Stevens 200, the bottom of the line el cheapo Savage, this is 200 yards and I have more pics just like it.

I would say either rifle. Whichever feels the best. I am a Rem700 fan. I have 2. A LTR and a SPS tactical both in .308. Wouldn't trade them for anything.

I have a rem 700 sps in .308. It is currently for sale to fund my purchase of a Savage. The Rem is great but after handling the Savage I've decided to go with them. It just feels better to me.

A big +1 for the Savage, have a 110E in 30-06 and love it. Best part was the price, I only paid $200 on GB for her.

I have the Rem my brother has the Savage. His gun is better.

You have to get what feels good to you. In my quest for a heavy barrel 308 I was looking at Howa, Savage and Remington. The Remington won. In shotguns I prefer Mossberg over Remington.

700

i have a 700 in .308. the pic is a 200yd group that involved me, $15 a box ammo, the trigger tuned to 3lbs, and a swivel bipod. thats it. no sand bags or anything else. love my 700.

the savage is a good rifle too. i think if you go hold both of them and pick the one that feels better to you, it'll out shoot either of us

I bought the Camo 700 from Dick's last week in 22-250. Mine shoots sub MOA with the cheap scope included and factory ammo (Remington UMC). Best 3-shot group was .5" at 100 yards. Also had a 5-shot 3 inch group at 300 yards. The stock is even growing on me...

Don't have any experience with the Savage to comment.

I got in on the same deal except in 308. It is actually a pretty darn good deal. Even if you don't like the stock you are basically paying $450 for a brand new barreled action.

I have been a 700 fan for a long time, and the new x-mark pro trigger is probably the best factory trigger I have ever felt. I personally dont like the accutrigger. Nothing wrong with it just not for me. Savage has come a long way in the last 20 years or so with reguards to accuracy and quality and produce very nice rifles now. Remington has had it all from the beginning. However I absolutly hate remington's synthetic cheap weak crappy poor excuse for a stock they put on there sps rifles. It flexes and is very difficult to freefloat or bed.
