Hello everyone! Thanks for taking time to read.

Gun specs:
Remington 700 AAC SD Magpul Hunter stock
Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50
Midwest Industries Rail
ADM Recon-S 30sd Scope Mount
Shooting PMC Bronze .308 147g FMJBT

Recently I was trying to zero my friends rifle and discovered it was shooting very high. I bottomed out the down elevation and I still had to use the 10 MOA hash above the center to hit near center. I took everything off made sure the mount wasnt to tight or loose, leveled the scope, made sure i tightened the screws evently. Still the same result. Both testings I bore sighted it and bottomed the elevation with the center still far below the target. What do you think the issue is?

Check the rail and or mount, my guess would be either has got some added MOA...for LR.

From ADM:

The AD-RECON-S mount is made for putting high power glass onto a flattop style AR-10 or Bolt Action Rifle. This mount is best suited for the AR-10 platform or Bolt Action Rifles that are in a chassis system with a full length handguard covering the barrel. This mount will work with up to and including 56mm Objective Lenses. The AD-RECON-S is a straight up scope mount with no eye relief built in. It is precision machined from 6061 T6 aluminum and finished in hard coat T3 Mil-Spec anodize. It features the Patented QD Auto Lock(tm) Lever system to accommodate both in-spec and out-of-spec rail systems. Available in 30mm and 34mm rings and either Black or Flat Dark Earth and either no MOA, 20MOA or 30MOA built in.

Why on earth does he have that scope mount on a R700? That's made for an AR, to get some eye relief, would be very tall on a R700. For sure make sure the rail isn't a 30-40 MOA rail, and I would get a set of rings to get the scope down on the barrel. How far are you shooting?

It was purchased like that :-/. Rings will be purchased to replace the mount, I figured it was too high. 450 yards at the moment.

Zeroing at 450? That's too far IMO, I would zero at 100, but test your dial ups at 450. If your bottomed out, and still shooting high at 450, you would see a notable "nose down attitude" on your scope. Can you post pics of the set up?

That scope only has 65 MOA of elevation, 32.5 each way of center. If indeed it had a 30-40 MOA rail, that would explain it.

Edit: I only see a 0 MOA rail offered for R700 SA

The ADM mount however, is offered in up to 40MOA! I would look there:)
