iv read lots of disapointing things about the remington 710. well i own a 710 270 win. i love the rifle and have had no problems with it. its easy to clean, pinpoint accurate, and fun to shoot.

It may not last as long as some others but unless you plan on shooting thousand's of rounds through it you should be fine .For a hunting rifle that see's seasonal shooting it will do its job.

Welcome to The High Road! As to the Rem 710, same here. I've put mine (a 30-06) through it's paces, and it seems to shoot as well as an inexpensive rifle could. I had a few light strikes, but I solved that by breaking the bolt down and cleaning all of the packing grease from it. It has been an affordable, accurate, reliable hunting rifle in a solid caliber, and you can't knock that. It ain't a 700, but neither is the price tag. :)

If that's what you have and you like it, then enjoy. I have a cheap rifle, a NEF Handi Rifle, that many people don't like, but that's okay. I do like it. Don't worry about what others think. I have my opinions about the 710s and 770s, but that's not to say that yours has to parallel mine.
Welcome to THR by the way.

Most who disparage probably have never fired one. It certainly isn't my favorite nor my best looking rifle, but it shoots as well as most of them and I don't mind tromping through the brush and weather with it. My only complaint is that plastic bolt insert that makes the action feel mushy. But for the price I haven't been disappointed with it.
