Decided to invest in a 300 wsm, mostly because it's one of the few calibers I don't have. I've narrowed it down to the 2 models listed above and want to know if anyone could provide feedback on either of them. I need something relatively light weight, with sub moa performance. This will be a mountain hunting rifle, and I need it to shoot good, even at long range (500-700yds). Thanks for any help!

Buy the Winchester 70 EW. It is 1/2 lb lighter than the Coyote Lite and comes with a better stock. Street prices will be about the same.

I have one of the EW's in 308. Mine is in a McMillan Edge stock and it is my favorite rifle. I also have one of the older SS Classics in 300 WSM in an Edge stock. With that stock it is under 7.5 lbs scoped and ready to hunt.

My trio, 300 WSM on the left, 30-06 in the middle and the 308 EW on the right. This was from about a month ago shooting at 400-600 yards. I did well enough out to 500, I'm not ready for 600 yet, but the rifle is.

I bought a Model 70 EW last year in 30-06. After I sighted it in I shot a 3 shot group at 100 yds. It shot 3 shots into one ragged hole. I've had 2 older Remington 700s with heavy barrels that would occasionally shoot one hole groups but I've never had a lightweight barrel gun do it. Quality, fit and finish of all of the newer model 70s I've got or examined are first rate and better than ever in my opinion. I can't say the same for Remington's of the last few years though. Their quality is way off compare to what it used to be.

The decline of the Winchester model 70's reputation was cataclysmic in 1964. Winchester fans abandoned the new model 70 in droves because of its design change and drop in QC. The design change was brought about to drop the price of production to compete with the Remington 700. The PF 70's are not inferior to the 700 in design but were perceived as such. The return to the pre 64 CRF Model 70 design was widely applauded by scores of riflemen but didn't translate into an increase in market share.
The FNH acquisition of Winchester and concurrent increase in QC has slowly reestablished the Model 70's reputation while the Remington 700's QC issues is eroding its.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Take the M70 and don't look back.

I'd take a model 70 over any Remington right now with no hesitation whatsoever.

Get the M70.
I've got three M-7's. They shoot 1.5-2.5moa.
Favorite is 7mm-08. It's least accurate of the three, but It's a "lucky" rifle. I just seem to see and kill things when hunting with it. However, I'd take a M70 light weight over it any day for shooting groups.
