Just before the New Year, a two year old was accidentally shot when a guest in the house bent down and his gun accidentally fired (it was in his pocket). The bullet struck him in the hand and the baby in the shoulder.
I have some additional info. The pistol was a 'derringer type' pistol. The 'shooter' (and I use that term VERY loosely) has been arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and child endangerment. The felony child endangerment charge can result in incarceration for up to 99 years ( ).
In addition, the child's father was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Apparently when the police responded, they found him with a gun also. :banghead:
I have much sympathy for the two year old; I expect it will be tough to grow up in a family environment full of armed convicted felons.
