It was a jhp with a wide screwdriver slot across the nose. It was available in 38-45, supposedly and I think, some revolver rds? I forget the bullet weights and velocities, sorry. The 2 "halves" of the bullet supposely were to open up like propellar blades as the bullet penetrated the target.

My question for you is, assuming that such performance could be reliably attained, would you prefer it? Or would you prefer the bullet to split completely into 2 chunks, which yaw and tumble (1 x) to a stable position, diverge from each othe and create separate wound channels? I think that the - wound version would be preferable. Especially if the bullet was 70 grs at 2200 fps in .45 and 60 grs at 2200 fps in 357 Sig or 9x23 Winchester.

Mach II impact speeds mean damage to fragile organs, beyond what is actually crushed by the bullet frags. We see it all the time with softpoint rifle hits, out where their speed has diminished to 2200 fps. Upon autopsy, we see a "tunnel" of bloodshot meat, all around the permanent cavity. That means that the temporary cavity actually did have enough speed to damage tissues that the bullet never actually contacted.
