I have a 1100 Remington 16 Ga made in 1964. I unstand a earley frame gun will exept 12 ga 16 Ga & 20 Ga barrels. I would like to put a 20 Ga early Barrel on my 16Ga Thanks
Dwan
I've owned two 1100's and have never heard of anyone being able to swap gauges by just swapping barrels. It is true that at one time the same size recievers were used on all the mentioned gauges. I cant see the shell stops or the extractor being compatible with a smaller gauge because of the difference in the rim size of the ammo. Not to mention the possibility of the mag tube being too large.
The standard weight/size barrel will fit onto the frame and uses the 12ga. magazine tube. You would however have to replace the shell stop, the interuptor, and the bolt assy .
