I have a Remington 1100 LT-20, 20 ga shotgun that I want to change the stock on. Current LOP is 14”. Does anybody know if a 13” Remington 1100, 11-87 20 ga compact stock and fore end will fit my receiver? I don’t thing Remington would reinvent the wheel for their 20 ga receivers. I’d appreciate anybody’s experience with this. Thanks.

The butt stock is a direct bolt on. The fore end very likely is not. ( a few early 12 gauge ones would go on either gun but apparently they dropped that idea) The barrel gas ring on an 11-87 is longer, and more material has been removed from the inside front of the fore end. But, if you put a slice of 1" CPVC (gray) or PVC (white) pipe about 1/4" to 5/16" long ahead of the 1100 gas ring it will work fine. I have an 11-87 fore end on my 1100 to match a straight grip 1100 butt stock. The fore end has to hold the barrel tight to the receiver. You can blacken the piece of pipe with a Sharpie and no one will ever see it down in there.

Thanks for your reply. So, to understand you correctly the stock from a 1100 / 870 compact will bolt on to my 1100 LT-20 receiver with no problems and I can use a 1” piece 1/4” to 5/16” long of pvc to adjuster the fore arm. Am I understanding this correctly?

Remington made a youth model on both the LT 20 and the LW 20. I had one years ago, but I can't remember the length of pull. I still have an LW20. I'm not sure about interchangeability between the lightweights and regular 20s.

You understood me perfectly. The length of pull on a newer youth model goes down to 12-1/2" or 12-3/4" if I remember correctly, and they have spacers and a recoil pad to add as someone grows, or to fit another shooter. The old LW and LT 20s had a beautiful 13" length of pull walnut stock with a hard plastic buttplate.
There is not interchangeability of furniture between the old standard 20s built on the 12 gauge sized receiver and the LW/LT guns. If the serial number ends in N or X it's a standard, K or U and it's an LW/LT. RS (current model) are all LT.

Virginian,

Thanks for your help. I looked at my LT-20 and the serial # ends in K. I am going to order the 1100 / 870 compact stock and forearm and see what happens. I’ll keep you posted on the out come. Thanks again for your help.
