Serial Number is N65xxxxV. It's a 12ga, full fixed choke 2 3/4" and there is a code on the left side of the barrel by the receiver that is either "FB" or "EB" and then the number 89. Thanks for the help.

Well Badger I "thought" the Remington web site had a link with this info.
    http://www.remington.com/default

I apologize. If it is there - someone please point it out and advise. Thanks!

Looked there first. There is a site for pre-1972 guns, but I have a feeling this is an 80's gun based on certain clues. Might be wrong, might be a 70's gun. Would still like help with the serial number. Nudie shots will follow when I get around to it. Working late tonight. It's pretty, though, that's for sure.

Well "somewhere" there is a site. I even did a search on TFL. I swear we had a source for this. I crashed HDD back whenever...

Badger, sounds like a beaut, looking forward to pics. By golly we'll make a backup of these sources if-n we get 'em again. :)

I believe it's EB, because Remington doesn't use F as the first letter of the date code. That would mean October of 1981.

See this thread at RimfireCentral for the list of date codes.

Now that I've found it, I have to wonder if my three full-choked 30" Vent Rib barrels are really going to do me any good. One is from the same year and the other seems to be a 1974 model. YES, I DO NOW HAVE ONE 1100 and THREE 30" Vent Rib FULL CHOKE Barrels to go along with it.

    :banghead:

At any rate, I'll add some search words so people can search for the codes:

made date manufacture barrel remington 870 11-48 11/48 11/87 11-87 878 Sportsman make year manufactured constructed born on shish kebab plethora iconic tweet

Well - a fella could have worse problems I guess.
I mean you could have receivers and no bbls...:)

    I ain't helping am I ? :D

I dunno...go buy buy more guns to match up. Go fondle those nice 37's you have...go shoot something.

Work with me here...I'm trying to help. :p

At least by your asking I have a .txt file with the codes above. I got something out of your asking. I will make others files as info comes avail.

Not sure this is the best photo. Still trying to figure out how to get good long-gun photos.
