I purchased a Remington 700 SPS Tactical and want to scope it. The gun will be used for self defense and hog hunting. I don't really want to spend more than $200 but I may be able to find a preowned scope for $200 that originally cost $400. If you were in my sitation what would you do? Oh, I'm in my late 40's and my eyesite is not that great closed up

I have a Leupold Vari-X IIc 2-7 scope with a heavy duplex I'm getting ready to sell. I also have a couple of the Simmons Aetec that will be listed shortly if you're interested in those.

The leupold vx-I and rifleman are both 2 piece scopes I am not sure why anyone would pay that much for them especially with so many other better scopes for less money. Honestly the best "tactical" scope in that range is a Super Sniper 10X or the Bushnell 3200 10X tactical.

If I were you I would save up a little more for this:

426242P Bushnell 6-24x40 Elite 4200 Rifle Scope
Matte
12x Mil-Dot
1"
Rainguard
Side Focus
$529.95

If you want a really nice hunting scope check out the Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40 for $230 or the Nikon Team Primos for $220. If you want a Leupold look at the VX-III's that are on clearance. The VX-II and below are really not up to snuff when compared to the competition. The new VX-3 line looks really good though equal to the VX-7 line for half the price. Leupold finally put out a line of scopes that IMO are worth every penny and offer great bang for buck. I hope the mk4 line is updated too.
