At one time I owned a Remington 760 in 30/06 and was pretty fond of it, but it went away during a "cash crisis" some time ago.
I'm considering another one, and with a lot of used ones available I'm looking for opinions as to wether the 7600 is the prefered model or should I stick with the 760?
What are the basic differences in the two models?

I think you'll find the main difference is that the older 760 had 3 or 4 rows of small lugs on the bolt, ala Wby MK5.

The 7600 series has just three or four larger lugs on the bolt.

Unc Alvah,
I feel your pain. I did exactly the same with the same gun / same caliber. Was my first center fire rifle and although I've overcome the cash crisis and my collection fills two safes, always kicking myself for selling the 760.
Think I'll look around for one just like it or try to find my old one and buy it back.
