I would like any info about this rifle.
On the top of the reciever stamped in a semi circle: REMINGTON
ARMORY
1917
No
xxxx18
There are no other marks.
It has provision for stripper clips and a drop door floor plate on the magazine box. It does not take a magazine. (like the 1895 Win)
The bolt face measures .575 where the cartridge sits.
The box magazine would accomadate a cartridge just over 3 inches.
I have not measured the twist, but appears to be in my best guesstimate about a 1 in 10 or 12 with 6 lands and grooves.
The bolt is similar to the Mosin Nagant with an approximately 1 inch dia. pull button for cocking manually. The bolt cocks on open. The bolt handle is about an inch long and is bent downwardand slightly to the rear with a round knob.
A 30-40 Krag cartridge sits nicely in the box mag and will sit in the chamber.
The 30-40 and the 303 were my 2 first thoughts as possible chamberings of this rifle.
I do have Cerralloy but dont have time for a few days to make a casting.
Thanks in advance for any help.
