I have a Remington model 700 rifle that I plan on mounting a scope onto. I plan on using Burris Signature rings and have a question on which type of base to use. The three types of bases that are available are: Weaver style, Double Dovetail, and Universal Base (dovetail in front and windage screw in back). What are the pro's and con's of each one? Is one considered more strong than the others? Is one considered to hold a zero better than the others? If it helps, like I said above, I will be using Burris Signature rings because I like the fact that they do not scratch your scope once it is mounted. Thanks for any comments back.

I have had several rifles with Leupold bases and rings over the years, and they work fine, but I prefer Weaver or Picatinny style bases on my rifles.
You have chosen a great set of rings. I really like the Burris Signature Zee Rings.

I have a remington 700 .270 I just got medium rifleman aluminum rings and bases with it(I think weaver). made sure to use thread locker on the bases. Way cheap and very good quality. bases were 9$ and rings were 15$. I shot a deer on the run at 200 yards right through the heart and lungs. Performance wise it was a great choice. Plus they don't rust on ya if they get water in them.
