I have a Remington 870 Express that has a (nicely sawed-off to 19") barrel that has stamped on it - 2 3/4" and 3" shells. I found a nice, used Remington 26" barrel with removeable chokes that has stamped on it - 3" and 3 1/2" shells. Can I use 3 1/2" shells with the new combo, or does the 870 Express receiver only work with 2 3/4" and 3" shells?

Receiver only works with 3" shells.

This is a standard Express Magnum (3"):

This is an Express Super Magnum (3 1/2"):

Note the difference in the length of the port. Though similar to the Magnum, the Super Magnum is designed for a longer stroke, and to fit the longer rounds.

You can use it as a "single-shot", because you'll have to dig out the 3-1/2" shell with a pocket knife....don't ask me how I know this..
