Remington Model 11 Browning
SN 111158
with choke
12 gauge

DOB? What it might be worth in good condition?

I have a chance to pick one up.

The value depends on condition, barrel length and amount of choke constriction.

don't blow your head off with it. they used to be called "widow-makers" because of the technique people used to chamber a cartridge in them. they are long recoil browning designed guns that have a floating barrel that is knurled for grip in chambering the first round.

in past years some guys had guns that had stuck firing pins due to settled grease or extremely cold grease. if they set the buttplate on the ground and pushed down on the barrel while leaning over the gun things generally didn't turn out well when the gun went into battery...

I believe you are thinking of the Winchester Model 1911...

"Winchester worked around this restriction by using the barrel as the mechanism to charge the weapon. In order to use the 1911 SL, a user would place the gun on safe, point the firearm in a safe direction, load the tubular magazine, and then pull back on the barrel by the checkered section."

I knew nothing about the Model 11. Interesting history. From what I am seeing they are not of high value or collectible per SE which is what I was trying to determine. Thanks for the assistance.

They are the "poor man's A5". The model 11 is identical to the Browning A5, except for the magazine cut-off and cosmetic differences. For whatever reason, collectors don't seem to have much interest in them, which is fine for a shooter since you can usually pick up a pretty nice example for under $300. There is also the Savage model 720, which is another Browning A5 licensed copy, which usually sell for even less.
