Remington Model 11 question

Hello, all,

I recently received a Remington Model 11 12 ga. as a gift. It is in excellent condition (no rust, solid blueing, great wood, etc). Fact is, it looks almost new. It came wtih no manual or other paperwork. My question is regarding the friction rings. How are these adjusted for various loads? I have also heard that these shotguns are not happy with magnum loads and slugs. Is this true?

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
