Bass Pro has a midnight madness sale in my town offering this rifle (synthetic) in .30-06 or .270, one per customer for a few hours tomorrow.

I have no need for the rifle now, but the price sounds too good to pass on. May get one for target banging.

I don't see the ADL on the Remington site, so maybe it is a phased out model or something.

Thoughts??

P.S. Which ammo is generally cheaper and easier to find? .30-06 or .270?

Thanks

Pure working rifle, and thats a good price.
Either caliber should serve you well, ammo price/availability is not an issue, with the possible exception of being able to purchase 30/06 ball ammo in bulk quanities.

Remington has phased out the ADL but the changes are cosmetic. A lot of people like the ADL because of the blind magazine. I don't need one but I certainly would buy one for that price. On some of the other forums people looking to build a rifle pay more than that for the action alone. .30-06 ammo can be had in surplus ammo, so it's cheaper.

I have a 700 ADL synthetic/perkerized in .30-06 I bought 4 years ago. Paid $380 NIB. Put a cheapie 3-9x 40mm illum. mil-dot on it and it will shoot+/- MOA with 150 gr. FMJ-BT and .8 MOA with 180 Spitzer BT (Sierra). For $250, I would buy another in a heartbeat. You can always upgrade the stock (mine is about ready for a choate ultimate sniper stock :D )
