So I walk into the pawn shop to change a watch battry (they do it for $5)

While he is changing the battery I am looking at the guns. I am looking for a 30-06 that wont break the bank.

There is a REMINGTON MODEL 700 ADL SYNTHETIC in the case. Looks to be in excellent condition. I know it is not he quality of the BDL/CDL & not as good looking as other rifles I have seen, but I think I can get it for a good price.:)

So my question are, what should one expect to pay for this rifle? And what are your thoughts to the ADL compared to others in the Rmmington line up?

Thanks
Bill

I have one in .270 and it's great. Accuracy and durability wise, it is every bit the same gun as my BDL (also a .270). The only real difference is, of course, the stock ain't pretty (the black stock does make it easier to take through the brush without cringing though), and the ADL does not have the hinged floorplate like the BDL does. Just makes unloading a little more time consuming. Of course it doesn't have that glossy deep blue fiinish like my BDL does, but it's not a showpiece but a working whitetail rig so I don't care. Mine shoots lights out at 100 yds from the bench, with a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 sitting in Talley lightweight one piece mounts. LIterally, the first three rounds I ever put through it, right after mounting the scope, were all touching at 100 yds, about 1" high of the bull. This was with the cheapest Federal blue box 130gr soft points they make, I think I paid $9.99 for the box at Cabelas.
I got mine brand new from my brother in law, without the scope, for $250 about 2 yrs ago. He got it as a gift in 2001 and never shot it and needed the money.

Does the one you're looking at have a scope? If no scope, and in great shape, I'd pay $300 - $350 for it or so, no more. If it has a scope, then of course the price would depend on the quality of the scope. That's in my area, yours may vary.

I really like my ADL, it has now replaced my BDL as my go-to whitetail rifle.

I paid 367.00 for mine in .30-06 about 10 years ago from WM.

I bought one last year in .243 when they were clearancing them for 325.00.

Slap a Nikon Prostaff scope on it and you have a very capable rifle for under or around 500.00.

A friend of mine got a 30-06 ADL from Wal-mart for $300+ and it shoots fine. One thing of note, the ADL can be made into a BDL (hinged floor plate) very easily. You can buy the hinged floor plate through gunbroker.com or ebay the cheapest. Then either cut the stock or just buy a BDL stock replacement and install the new hinged floorplate. I did it with my Remington LVSF (Light Varmint Stainless Fluted) for $80, which was the cost of the floorplate.
A hinged floorplate is not necessary, but is a easy upgrade later if you desire.

i prefer the adl's over the bdl's and cdl's. i only have a couple of adl's, but that's mostly because i have really slowed down on bolt rifle purchases in the last year...
