I have pretty well settled on 158 grain SWCHP +P as the carry and practice ammunition for my 640 and 642.
Searching the threads I seem to have found something of a consensus that the Remington R38S12 (which they call LHP) has a softer bullet and expands more reliably while the Winchester SWCHP X38SPD has a harder bullet and penetrates more reliably.
Are there real world data to support a practical difference?
If so, it would seem to make sense to use the Remington in the summer and the Winchester in the winter. I don't even want to think about one for indoors and one for outdoors.
