The May issue of Guns & Ammo features a full page ad on the Remington Versa Max shotgun.
The ad states that the Versa Max "Sets a new standard for reliability in autoloading shotguns".
In the same issue is a Product Safety Notice-Warning "Do not use your Remington Versa Max Shotgun". Apparently a few of the shotguns that set a standard in reliability have defective hammers that could result in: "Property damage, serious personal injury or death"....
The ad is on page 65, the warning on page 84.
OUCH

I think Remington is a very good company and I love most of their products. But I think they have some serious quality control issues due to cost cutting. Especially the 870 express line of shotguns, if this is the direction the company is heading it's not going to be good. I own 2 of the newer 870's with the dull flat scratch off finish, I won't buy another one. I'm not trying to bash Remington, I just think they could do a little better in the quality control and overall finish department. That's my 2 cents.

Some of the first Versamaxs had potential hammer issues. Been fixed. The Express is built to a price point and some had had rough chambers, and they still fly off the shelves.
