{I did not get a response to the question in "Gunsmithing and Repairs," so I put it here}

I have had two remington sendero's returned to the factory for repair. These are supposed to be relatively problem free. This is not my question though.

Does anyone know what a "M101" might be, in relation to the repair document sent back with the rifle?

This rifle had very serious head space problems. The repair document stated that a "M100 - see customers letter" was reported, and that a "M101 - Accuracy" was found.

I have received two flawed Sendero's this year, a .300 ultra and a 7mm ultra. I know these are supposed to be out of the box moa rifles. I am getting very annoyed, considering that I wanted these guns and myself setup and ready for out to 1,000 yard shooting. I received this gun back yesterday evening, and our deer hunt opens Sunday. I have probably 4,000 into this endeavor, and I feel like I keep starting over. Sorry, I had to rant.

That is understandable that you are upset. I am also facing a similar situation with a new Cooper Model 52 that I recently purchased. I discovered after zeroing the rifle that the inside of the barrel near the muzzle had been bead blasted. Apparently the rubber plug worked loose, or was worn out during metal finishing. So even though it still shot fairly well (.6-1.0 MOA), I was furious and sent the rifle back.

I usually am so disgusted with a rifle I have to send back that I immediately get rid of it, but in the case of this Cooper I can't wait to get it back. I could barely put the thing down when I had it, and it shot really well despite its flawed bore, so I can only imagine how much better it will shoot with the problem corrected.

Hopefully your Sendero(s) finally make it back to you in satisfactory condition, I wish I could tell you that Remington was a good company that will take care of you. Unfortunately I can't, given my experiences with their products and a conversation with their old CEO.

I was going to build a remington 700 action, new trigger, barrel stock and a bunch of gunsmithing. However, kept being told, "why bother." If it doesn't shoot now, I will end up doing that with a 1,000 dollar action.

I am surprise no one can help me with this code.

With the last one, they sent a note with a group explaining that they recrowned and lapped the barrel. The best group they could send me was just less than an inch.

On the code thing, the truth is that I could not find that code when I googled it. I would just like to know if they did something, or if m101 means it meets the expectations.

Besides bad grouping, here is what I found. As I was breaking in the barrel, I was just focus on that. after about 20 rounds, I notice a shiny circle on the head of the brass. I figured out that the head space must be off, and that the brass must have been push back hard, which flattened everything except where the extractor pin was. So, the surface which was in contact with the pin did not get the pressure. So, it would be nice to know if they fixed this, or if they did something else.

so the head of the case was shiny and the area around the ejector was not? id like to see pictures if you happen to have them.

alright, got them up. I might start a thread just about this, because there are some that might have seen this thread and won't come back.

Here are pictures of the brass from the first box. the problem gets worse as I start the second box. The circle is raised

The link I had here was wrong, here is is the link to a thread pertaining to the problem that I recognized.
