At the request of my uncle I am researching info on a Remington RB #2 rifle. I cannot find a serial number on it anywhere. Other than the manufacturer imprint on the top of the barrel all I can find is a 32 on the bottom of the barrel. (It's 32 Rim Fire)

Where does the serial number (if any) get stamped on these?

I'm assuming this was made after 1886 as the maker's imprint says Remington Arms Co. Ilion, NY (Not E. Remington Co.)

Trying to find info about this rifle has been difficult. :banghead:

Thanks in advance.

And a lot of them had the serial number on the side of the top tang, visible only with the action out of the stock.

It may not tell you much, not all Remington serial numbers were consectutive for the model. Military models were often numbered by the contract and commercial guns marked with batch numbers having little relationship to the time of manufacture.

If you want to have Dale Storey gunworks or another convert it to .32S&W Long or 32-20 CENTERFIRE I'd keep it , otherwise pass as there is NO readily available .32 rimfire anymore for 50 years or more.

I have two boxes of ammo.... one box was made for Navy Arms in the 80's....

I'm considering a conversion. I can make the parts for that.

Although I ought to just let him sell it....
