What are some of the opinions of the Sendero? I have looked at one in a 300rum. I am not really interested in that caliber just in how the gun handles and if it's worth the price tag tied to it. I know it's very similar the the VS SF which I have used and like. Does having it in a magnum caliber change it much? What else if anything clould be done to make it better? Thanks

I was able to shoot one of the first generation Senderos when they used to be black matte finished and a lot less expensive. They were basically the long action version of the old VS (Varmint Synthetic)

It was a 7mm Mag and it shot pretty well considering it was not my rifle and I had no previous experience shooting this caliber.

As far as handling , it was a heavy bull barrel 26" rifle so it seems better designed for shooting from a rest , at least for me.

The Sendero is a very good rifle. My brother has one in 300 Win Mag. It shoots right at 1/2 inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards. We have not yet tested it at longer yardages.

The secret is to JB the hell out of the barrel. The factory barrels are rough as a corn cob. Wear out at least 4 patches. Also the magnums shoot much better with reguar primers. Magnum primers are very inconsistant. His groups shrank by half an inch by switching to standard match primers.

I had a Sendero S/F .300 RUM a few years ago, with a muzzle brake.

Nice rifle, accurate, very easy to work hand loads for too.

As stated, on the heavy side for big game hunting.

I currently use a Sendero SF in 7mm Remington Magnum as my long range deer rifle. It is a heavy 26" barrel, so it isn't something you'd want to spot and stalk with, but it shoots Barne's TSX's as well as i could ask a factory rifle to do. 1/2" 3 shot groups are the norm from a rest at 100 yards.

My sendero 25-06 did this target before I finally adjusted the trigger to less then 6 lbs. I expect it will do better now that I have trigger adjusted.

Great guns, I love mine.
