Remington Steel Shot Barrels

Looking at getting a Remington 26" steel shot barrel for an old non-magnum 1100. Specs say 2 3/4" lead or steel, 3" steel shot only. Will it take any of the nickel/copper/etc plated loads or hevi shot, or is it strictly steel shot?

Steel only. The pressures are different for steel shot and others. You could get away with a few, but it's the gun's action that can't take the pounding.

Is the pounding really that much worse for lead shot?
