I want to remove the iron sights on my Remington Model 700! I know this as simple as removing the screws, but what do i do about the screw holes left in the barrel?
You have some choices; 1. leave the holes: 2. plug the holes with screws and file off to match the bbl, 3. plug the holes with Brownell's screws that are made for plugging bbl holes and have rounded tops that are susposed to match the bbl curve but never quite do. If you do plug them, a dab of lok tite in the cleaned hole makes it pretty permanent. Or, go nuts and have the holes welded with 3 1/2% nickel rods and reblue the bbl action.
