Hi,

Can someone tell me the proper procedure for unscrewing Marlin lever action barrels? My specific Model is a new manufacture 1895GG in 45-70. I need to send one back to get some plating work done on it. Its not necessary to send the entire action back for porting, plating, etc. By the time I pay postage for the receiver , well, you get the idea. Any tips, hints and "Watch out for this" comments welcomed. Thanks

Jerry

Send the entire barreled action. You need a barrel vise and an action wrench plus the know how of taking it off and putting it back on.

Removing a barrel on any high-power rifle is not a job worth doing to save a few bucks on postage.

Without the proper equipment, (barrel vice & action wrench), the risk of irreparable damage is great.

We are not dealing with a hardware store water-pipe here!
