Hello All,

Does anyone know how hard it is to remove light oil stains from rubber grips? I managed to get a little bit of oil from some Hoppes field wipes on one of my grips. Someone I talked to said it would come out on its own from handling the gun, since it was only on the rubber for less than five minutes, but I wanted to ask you all. The experts! Thanks in advance, and Happy Holidays!

To tell the truth I have never stained a grip or stock be it rubber or wood on either rifles or pistols. What oil were you using?

If they stain with Hoppes # 9 field wipes I would consider ordering a different grip.
I am guessing he is simply referring to the color differences between the part of the grip without oil and the part of the grip with oil. Applying oil to the metal slide or even a polymer frame will result in a noticeable color and sheen difference.

Ultrasonic cleaners work wonders on rubber grips. Ask any golfer. The cavitation action really cleans out all the microscopic pores of the rubber renewing the entire grip. I also love cleaning my plastic screwdriver handles in the ultrasonic cleaner after working on something oily or greasy. By cleaning out all the pores in the plastic it really increases the grip of the screwdriver handles.

P.S. I use Dawn dishwashing liquid in my ultrasonic cleaners for rubber, plastic and anything else greasy or oily.

Two options. Degrease the grips (remove them first) or wipe them all over with the wipes to get a uniform look and then remove any excess with a dry cloth.
