Gotta break it down for a trip to get into a suitcase. Had a Mossberg 500 and it just unscrewed. Same here?

Thank you.

It should be. However, the last 590 mag tube I tried to remove would not budge either and I felt I was about to kink the tube before it would break free.

Since it was not imperitive to remove, I just left it but would have considered applying judicious heat to it to get it to crack loose.

If I remember right, I seem to remember seeing some thing in the threads just where it met with the receiver. It may have been some kind of thread locking substance or even maybe epoxy. If either, a tad of heat would have allowed it to break free.

Yes, I had to gently heat at the bottom of the tube (they use Locktite) on the threads and use a rubber grip pad, the round ones for opening up lids on glass jars.

Hair dryer on the receiver at the base of the tube works wonders.

Or, you can do what I did--wait 35 years for the thread locker they used to crumble up and it'll unscrew fine. Now it's well lubricated for takedown and cleaning.
