RENO, Nev. (AP) - A would-be vandal was recovering at a Reno hospital after being shot by a woman as he allegedly tried to vandalized her vehicle.
Police said the woman had dropped off two children at a clinic and day care center Wednesday and was returning to her van when she saw the man vandalizing the vehicle.
The center is operated by the University of Nevada, Reno.
"He was vandalizing her vehicle," said UNR police Lt. Marc Conley. "He approached her. He was advancing toward her, and she shot him."
The man was reported in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Washoe Medical Center.
After firing a single shot from a revolver, the woman sat next to the building with her gun nearby until police arrived, Conley said.
The woman had a permit to carry the weapon, Conley said.
She was not arrested but an investigation continued, police said.
