(sigh)
Being a moderate, I think the machine gun ban is just fine.
That's not anything like a "moderate," regardless of how many people might think it is. When the entire argument shifts to the left, is the middle still
actually in the
real middle? No. It's on the left, along with arguments in favor of infringing the God-given rights of citizens.
I understand the desire for such a novelty item but I don't see why a civilian would need that much firepower.
Thankfully, we don't have a Bill of Needs. If we did, I can only imagine how quickly someone with a similar mindset would tell us we didn't
need harsh or profane language, religion, guns at all, due process of law...
Imagine a paranoid crazy getting their hands on such an item?
So what? Let's get one thing straight.
Even if TEN MILLION "paranoid crazies" had military hardware, it still wouldn't cancel, or justify the infringement of, the right of the NON-crazies that want it. (As a matter of fact, it would make exercising the right a lot more wise...)
But I would like a national CCW permit. Maybe your state police could set up some kind of combat pistol course for such a permit.
Sure. Give us handguns to carry. When Big Brother comes (someday...) with machine guns, we'll all shoot their armored selves with 9mm hollowpoints. Because it's all you thought we needed. But we shouldn't resist tyranny anyway, right? We should bend over and take it, because the government knows what's best for us all--and what's best for us is
control.
There is a saying about straw, and gold...but there's another one about horses and water that makes it futile.
