Good read. I've heard this report mentioned before but never actually read it. Yeah it's curious that Biden was involved in the committee. So were 2 Alabamians (shameless local plugging). It also strikes me, having read extensively on Thomas Jefferson, how wise and thoughtful statesmen were at the time. I wonder how it would have been like to sit in at a Congressional meeting back then or actually hear one of the Founding Fathers addressing the populace.

Great post, it's amazing also that many people don't even understand what the Second Amendment is... and that's how these politicians skew the meanings and pretend it only applies to 'certain firearms' or the 1776 equivalent.

This Committee report is a really good find and read. This is all well and good for #1, a reader. And #2 a reader who'd like to research and inform himself.

My question is, is this type of document going to have any weight in 2013? It does to me because of my love of history.

My problem with the document and ones like it, is length. It's about 26 1/2 pages too long for the average reader, and especially the reader who is anti-gun rights. I can even point out my preferred reading, the Front-Page of any newspaper, and yet it has little effect. IMO it is because most of the anti-gun crowd thinks that Gov't should fix the gun-crimes, and police will protect them.
