Well, I don't own an AR, but I have repeatedly looked into doing a build for tactical-target work. I searched around a good bit, i hope this isn't the 10,000th time this has been posted. if so slap me.

Anyways:

I want 1 MOA pretty much all day. not hand-loading. factory stuff for awhile.

I was a 45B and my daily job is repairing small-arms for DoD so an AR build is not an issue at ALL for me.

I have been looking around and keep seeing BCM (Bravo Company) barrels listed as good to go and great quality. I like the 18" length.

whats the report on a nice 18'' barrel? am I on the right track with BCM?

cool. thanks.

JAV, if YOU are the guy that effed up all the barrel nuts slamming them on I will hunt u down. haha. that and bringing in buttstocks in 6 pieces....

I also looked up the mega gator lowers, they look nice as well.

No personal experience with the BCM SS-410 barrel but I really doubt you'll find anything negative anywhere.

I'm replying simply because you mention Mega. I recently got a Mega billet lower and it's basically a work of art. Flawless machining and finish. I would highly recommend Mega's product and suggest you may want to look at the billet lowers - mostly for looks and the integral trigger guard, but they're fairly inexpensive as billet lowers go, and there's about nothing that could be improved on them.

What do you mean by MOA all day long? When the barrel gets hot,the groups are going to open up. My BCM barrel has shot several 20 round groups that came in under 1.5" at 100 yards. It would hold MOA as long as I didn't let the barrel get stupid hot, but that was with good ammo. If ur expecting it to do this with any flavor of mil spec load, I don't think it will do it.

^yup, i have read the same praise for mega online as well with the machining and quality. I like the original trigger guard design but I will check out the billet stuff too.

thanks Z.

....I think I may be able to do a respectable build here!

TonyAngel, I am looking to be able to put 5 shots into MOA with black hills or federal (aka good match grade ammo, whatever the barrel is found to agree with).

I would be either on a bipod or bench mostly. i don't think i would ever do 20rnd groups or enough to heat it up and continue shooting after group size increased. MOA all day meaning i can take it to the range and know i can put 5 rnds into an inch at 100m. and keep MOA out past that.
