I tried out seven different revolvers on a course of fire, 2 times each. These were the results (all four inch barrels):
S&W M27 Target grips 47/48 hits Avg. Time 50 seconds
S&W M686 Target Grips 47/48 hits. Avg. Time 53 seconds
Colt Police Positive MkV 46/48 hits Avg. Time 54 seconds
S&W M27 Magna grips 43/48 hits Avg. Time 55 seconds
Colt Diamondback 42/48 hits Avg. Time 53 seconds
S&W M19 Target Grips 41/48 hits Avg. Time 49 seconds
S&W M67 Magna Grips 38/48 hits Avg. Time 51 seconds

Conclusions: Heavier guns, or at least guns with heavier barrels are easier to hit with than light guns. (no surprises there)
Larger grips are easier to shoot with than smaller grips (at least with S&W).
Lighter guns may be slightly faster than heavier guns but are less stable.
Dark sights are faster than light sights.

The course of fire was a failure drill (two to the body, one to the head) at 5 yds, 10 yards, reload, 15 yards, 20 yards, reload, 20 yards, 15 yards, reload, 10 yards, 5 yards, while moving to the right laterally, in 50 seconds or less, performed twice.
