I have the Taurus 425 in .41 mag (4 inch) for my primary field carry, but I cannot find many holster makers that sew for this model. So my next bet is to get a similar frame sized holster that will fit decently.

Would the K or L frame lines in Smith&Wesson reliably cover this option?

Not in a custom-built holster: these are "form-fitted" to the weapon in question, so they wouldn't be a comfortable fit for your gun. You could use a "generic" holster such as the Uncle Mike's nylon products, which are made to fit (for example) a "medium-frame 4"-5" revolver", but then these won't fit as well as a custom holster. I think your best bet is to approach various holster-makers and ask them whether they have the necessary Taurus holster blank (a solid aluminum block in the shape of the gun in question) to make you a holster of your choice from their range of designs.

Many factory holsters are made with enough slop to work with other guns (Bianchi comes to mind). I can often fit an L frame Smith in a K frame holster with no real effort. I don't know what Smith frame size your gun corresponds to, but there should be something that will work with it that you can buy over the counter.
