People say the same thing about the .22LR but I have over 50 of them. If I found them boring, I'd quit and take up golf.anybody else think 9mm is the absolute mOst BORING round know to man? like a Mcdees Cheeseburger Plain!
but .22LR is not boringPeople say the same thing about the .22LR but I have over 50 of them. If I found them boring, I'd quit and take up golf.
Moonclips, it should use moonclips. That is about as modern as you can make a revolver.
Moonclips rule!!!
always wanted one of those! remember when they were $350!
9mm in 2011 is cool! but yeah, I just got enough 9mm to last a lifetimeI have heard good things about the kimber. As for 41, if you want to do it right find yourself a full size gun like a 6.5" blackhawk, model 57 or 58. You wont be sorry you did!
Im with you bud, 9mm makes me yawn but i think thats mostly due to the guns it is most often chambered in. I do enjoy shooting it out of a nice metal framed pistol like a high power, or barretta 92. Im considering trying a 1911 in 9mm.(DONT TELL ANYONE!)
Forgot a the good ole .44 specialIs "modern revolver" an oxymoron ?
If resources are not a limiting factor, consider an FA97 in 357 or 44Spl ?
if you think about it… all guns have the same 100yo basic design.I bought my Model 637 for $290, OTD. Everyone should have a .38 snub-nosed.
Hard to think of any revolver as "21st Century". Even the Kimbers have the same basic design, just a more modern look. Maybe it's when you put a rail on them, makes them "21st Century"?
Might go Cheap too! Taurus .357 for salt water fish! might workLast time I was in lgs they had a little Taurus 856 executive in 38 and a ruger 2.25" sp101 357 that caught my eye. The little Taurus was pretty sweet and the ruger was well, 357 capable.
these are about as modern as it gets!!! thanksI have maybe a dozen snub revolvers. The two I carry regularly are a Ruger LCR and/or a S&W 642. They're hammerless and lightweight. Steel snubbies have less recoil, but they make my pocket sway exactly like there's something heavy in it.
I agree with the OP. Some of the reasons I prefer to carry a revolver are contact shooting and not being knocked out of battery.
After I shot my friend's LCR, I bought one for myself because the trigger is so good. He has the 357. I have the 38. They're both excellent.
The little 642 is super nice, too. I have slightly smaller grips on it, so it fits into smaller pockets.
I carry hammerless snubs. I'm a little clumsy and can easily manage to snag a hammer on a garment.
Shooting 357's out of a snub won't make your hand explode or anything, but a good 38 should be as effective, and it will be less blinding/deafening.
For a bigger caliber, I have a Charter Arms Bulldog in 44 special. It fits nicely into a coat pocket or overalls bib pocket. I had to wear overalls for a couple of years and it was perfect. (They're also available in 45acp and 40S&W.)

The Kimber 357 snub is a six shot at 23 ounces(empty). Might be a little large for a pocket but IWB should be easy. My 2.25" Ruger SP101 357 is 26oz with five rounds that I carry IWB or OWB. Personally, I like snubs in that 23-26 ounce range at least so practicing with 38+P is still enjoyable but 357 capable.I have the latest Uberti .357 / 9mm SAA clone. but it doesn’t fit in my pocket.
was thinking… here me out. Kimber .357??? what you think?

I guess modern wound be the material it made of. Would be cool if they made a carbon nano tube gun! light weight and such
I held a 329pd air lite at a show yesterday. I was really impressed by the feel of it. Super light. Im sure it’s not too much fun to shoot with full power loads.
No, I beg to differ. They are tried and true workhorses. For personal protection, home defense, small game to large bears and buffalo; up close and out a far piece. They've stood the test of time. The words "modern" and "revolver" don't belong in the same sentence. I like revolvers too, but let's face it, they're historical artifacts.
Only seen it on the Internet! I do want to try to see what it feels likeMark Mark,
You seem enamored of shooting a revolver
from your pocket.
First test that concept. You'll do it just once.
