Hey, Eaglestroker, tell us about your front sight. I bet it's not original to 1976. :)
I'm thinking about going with a bright orange front sight but I have a 64, with sight machined into the barrel, not pinned. Does yours have some clever solution to my problem, or is your front sight pinned?

(I'm not complaining about my 64. It is smooth and reliable and I got it for less than $300. I hope it spent its youth scaring the daylights out of street criminals.)

Hey Broadside, best I can tell it is original. If someone did change it they did it in such a way I sure can't tell as the wear seems pretty in line with the rest of the gun. I literally purchased this revolver this afternoon - it's my first Smith and my first revolver. Just wanted one made 'the good ol' way' since the prices seem to be going up every day!

My 1975 model 66 has the same front sight from the factory. Brownells sells an epoxy kit to replace the insert in various colors.

I bought a 15-4 at a gun show some months back for $260 but it does have a few issues. Though it shoots well enough the yoke and cylinder have scratching like someone messed with it and the barrel has some scratches that are through the bluing. Was toying with, perhaps, getting her customized (as I did buy it for my wife to use) with a refinish job, front sight work but no qualified gunsmith for revolvers I'm aware of close to me (hour west of Abilene). I do believe she'll be making the journey to S&W. This is her at the present time:

Though this is a pic thread (I did post one) I'd like to hear some thoughts (PM me if you'd like) ;)
