Target was 100yd. For a size reference, the gun is a 6lb howitzer so the bore size is about 3.5in so you can gauge the size of the targets by the size of the holes. Bullseye was about 4in and the card suites are about the same. We were shooting late afternoon and the rear has a Hadley eyecup that was a bit too small to admit enough light to see the targets clearly. Even though I was on the worm and brush, I did take a moment to look through the sights as we prepared to pull the string again.
Our shot string went- first to 12oclock, correct aim second to 6oclock, reset gun and then 12oclock again (discovered problem with main rear sight), reset gun aim with back up sight bullseye, reset gun, 4 ring, reset gun bullseye, reset gun 4 ring. Move to card target. Heart- hit. Spade- miss reset, hit. Diamond- hit. Club- hit. 1 spare shot left, grins and giggles, aim at 12 on bullseye, hit. So between the Hadley and the main rear sight problem, we did ok. Were it not for the main rear having issues, we'd probably have shot even better. In the target pic, we're digging out the rounds for recasting.
Yeah, cannons are great fun!
