Revolvers only 5" up to 6.5"

Always wanted a S&W Model 27 with a 5" barrel. Back in the day the Model 27 was like the Cadillac of .357 Magnum revolvers (not taking anything away from the Colt Python either).

I don't care much for any barrel over 4", but from time to time, it really can't be avoided. Such was the case with this 1948, Smith & Wesson K-22. This one is "finish challenged" and I paid about half of your stated price limit. Of course there are much nicer examples out there, priced accordingly.

I realize the OP said he wanted something new, but I don't know anything about "new" guns.

Oops- good eye! I missed his mentioning of them being new in the 2nd post. Guess mine is out of the running, then. Still an interesting thread for the pics, though!

I'm a S&W collector/shooter, so...

S&W 29-2 44 mag 8 3/8"
S&W Model of 1955 .45 6 1/2"
2 x S&W 2nd model HE .455 6 1/2"
S&W 2nd Model HE .44 Special 6 1/2"
4 x S&W Model of 1917 .45 5 1/2"
S&W Outdoorsman .38 6 1/2"
A couple of S&W Model of 1905 3rd model 6 1/2"
Numerous K frame in 5" and 6"

I think the 5" barrels look great on most, but the longer the barrel, the better for me.

The 6" Ruger Gp100 357 is a very nice revolver. My friend bought one new a year or two ago, and its trigger still impresses me.

I think everybody should have a Ruger single action. My choice was a stainless New Model Blackhawk .357/ 9mm convertible with a 6 1/2" barrel. Of course you can't go wrong with a K-frame, my S&W Model 66 is my favorite.

One word......Beautiful.

here is a 7.5 Ruger .30 Carb and an 8 3/8 S&W Model 48 .22 mag to get an idea of how single actions and double actions handle their barrel length differently

For decades, old timers and current revolver shooters sing the praises of the 5 inch barreled S&Ws for balance and just feeling good in the hand.

I tend to agree. Five inch Model 27 and a Five inch 38/44 Outdoorsman

Five inch Model of 1950 45ACP with a custom fit 45 Colt cylinder. I suppose I could be a little bit biased.

The 5.5" Blackhawk in my avatar is my first revolver. That length seems very well balanced and is more accurate than its owner. Notice I said it was my first revolver, it will not be my last revolver or SA :)

My version of the 6" bbl.

With the Hogue grips, it's a sweetheart to shoot.
