RFID not tin foil

RFID will never be used against people, except when it is.

Some companies have provisions in their labor agreements that the RFID chips in badges cannot be used to track movements with said evidence being used against employees (i.e. to determine if they are leaving early). Of course, such provisions are honored in the breach on occasion.

It's really not hard to imagine a scenario where RFIDs are mandated in new firearms, and scanners are included with metal detectors as a matter of course.

HK already uses RFID in pistols

Pull the backstrap off a few new manufactured K&H's....

Don't worry though, it's just for inventory purposes!
If it bothers you, remove it.

The reason these things are used is because it is a dirt cheap way to keep track of their inventory for manufacturers and retailers. They are not putting them there to make the RFID tag manufacturers rich, or so Obama can track your gun while you are walking down the street.

Folks,

Don't worry about this, several reasons.

The bill requires the RFID tag be passive and hold all sorts of information, some falling under privacy regulations etc.

In addition the card has be updateable by the retailer with all this juicy info.

Standard RFID tags can be disable by a sharp tap....saaaay a recoil
Standard RFID tags do not work through tin foil, never mind behind a couple of millimetres of steel
Standard RFID tages are disabled if hit with electromagnetics, say a microwave.
If the tag is writeable it will also have a kill/wipe function

Etc etc, in other words, difficult to implement, never practical to work, many reasons for accidental and unintentional buggering of said chip.
